Kathryn Riopel is a soprano from Elk Grove Village, IL. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice & Opera Performance and Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Northwestern University. She relocated to Montreal, QC in 2022 and earned the Master’s of Music in Voice & Opera Performance at McGill University in 2024, studying with Dominique Labelle.
Opera Quest 2025 is pleased to present JÉHANNE, an operatic exploration of the extraordinary vision quest of the French heroine, Joan of Arc.
Composed by Opera Quest Artistic Director Colin Doroschuk , JÉHANNE will be developed for the stage in creative collaboration with a cast of emerging artists, singers, dancers, and an experienced production team of industry professionals. The cast features soprano Kathryn Riopel as Jéhanne, and mezzo sopranos Jessica Lyublinsky and Natalie Vong.

Recent credits include the title roles in the new work Jéhanne with Opera Quest Victoria and Handel’s Semele with Opera McGill. She also originated Aphrodite in The Sapphic Passion with the Sapphonix Collective and Madame Z (lead role) in Brother 12: A Rock Opera in Montreal, QC. She was a semi-finalist in the prestigious Wirth Vocal Prize Competition at McGill University in March 2024 and finalist in the Opera Birmingham Competition in 2025.
