Soprano Kayla Oderah is an emerging young artist and Dayton Opera Artist-in-Residence. Kayla made her professional debut in 2022 performing the role of Girlfriend 2 in Blue with Toledo Opera as well as Despina in Così fan Tutte with Finger Lakes Opera as a Tomita Young Artist. She also sang in the young artist program at Opera Ithaca for fall 2022 performing principal roles in Proving Up, Nabucco, and Highway #1, USA.

Soprano Kayla Oderah is an emerging young artist currently singing as a Opera Memphis Handorf company Artist. Last season Kayla sang with Dayton Opera as a spring Artist-in-Residence. There she performed the role of Woglinde in Das Rheingold. Kayla made her professional debut in 2022 performing the role of Girlfriend 2 in Blue with Toledo Opera as well as Despina in Così fan Tutte with Finger Lakes Opera as a Tomita Young Artist. She sang in thr young artist program at Opera Ithaca performing roles in Proving Up, Nabucco, and Highway #1, USA. While completing her master’s at University of Michigan - School of Music she performed the role Tytania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She also performed in masterclasses led by soprano Reri Grist as well as Met Assistant General manager, Michael Heaston. In 2016 she attended the Aspen Music Festival and School as a studio artist. Oderah is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she received her Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance with a minor in artistic entrepreneurship. At UNC she studied with Dr. Louise Toppin and was the recipient of the prestigious four-year Kenan Music Scholarship. As an undergrad she performed opera roles including, Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, Servilia in La Clemenza di Tito, and Mary in Highway #1 USA. Kayla has performed internationally at the University of Cape Town where she sang the role of Constance in Dialogues of the Carmelites. She’s performed in opera at the Amalfi Coast Music Festival in Italy along with the Berlin Opera Academy in Germany.
