(She/Her) Kelsey Sandefur, soprano, is at the launching point of an exciting career. A Chicago native, Miss Sandefur is a second-year master’s student of Pamela Hinchman at Northwestern Uniersity's Bienen School of Music. While at NU, she has performed roles such as Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), and The Witch (Hansel and Gretel), and has also covered the role of Mother in the Chicago premiere of Dog Days by David T. Little.

Kelsey Sandefur

Kelsey Sandefur, soprano, is at the launching point of an exciting career. A Chicago native, Miss Sandefur is a second-year master’s student of Pamela Hinchman at Northwestern Uniersity's Bienen School of Music. While at Northwestern, she has starred as Rosalinde in NU’s 2020 production of Die Fledermaus, recorded the role of The Witch in an audio production of Hansel and Gretel produced by NU's Opera Projects for University Singers (OPUS), covered the role of Mother in the Chicago premiere of David T. Little’s Dog Days, and most recently, sang the role of Fiordiligi in the virtual concert production of Cosí fan tutte. In addition to having attended the Chautauqua School of Music’s Voice Program virtually during the summer of 2020, she appeared as Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro in Novelfeltria, Italy, with La Musica Lirica’s 20th Anniversary Opera Festival during the summer of 2019, which was presented under the guidance of Maestro Pietro Billi with the Ravenna Orchestra. A versatile artist, she has appeared with orchestras in numerous opera gala concerts, singing famous arias and scenes such as Violetta from La Traviata, Alice from Falstaff, and Zerlina from Don Giovanni. Miss Sandefur received her Bachelor of Music in Music Performance and a Minor in Theatre from Ball State University. While there, she studied under the tutelage of Dr. Craig Preibe and performed in five operas, including a portrayal of the role of Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro for which Francesca Levitt, daughter of acclaimed American opera conductor and teacher Fiora Contino, regarded her as the “favorite voice on the stage.” This summer, Miss Sandefur will rejoin the ranks of Marlena Malas's acclaimed voice program at the Chautauqua School of Music, and following this opportunity, continues to is look forward to what will undoubtedly be a fruitful career.
