Biography

Kim Stanish

Praised for her “rich mezzo timbre and apt agility” (South Florida Classical Review), Kim Stanish is a mezzo-soprano from Denver, Colorado. She recently joined West Bay Opera as Dalila in Saint-Saen’s Samson et Dalila and Opera Theater of St. Louis as a Gerdine Young Artist for the 2025 season, where she covered roles in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Die Fledermaus and had several features in the Center Stage Concert. Her 2024 engagements included the American premiere of Carlo Coccia’s Matilde as Fiammetta with the Opera Southwest Apprentice Artist Program, as well as Suzuki in Madama Butterfly and the Fairy Queen in Iolanthe with Opera Naples Resident Artist Program. In 2023, she was featured as the Mezzo-Soprano Soloist in the ‘Fountain of Youth’ Concert Collaboration with Central City Opera and Denver Young Artists Orchestra and concert performances as a Guest Artist with Fort Collins Opera. In 2022, she performed the title role in Carmen and the partial role of Hansel in Hansel and Gretel, both with Miami Classical Music Festival, and as the Alto Soloist in Handel’s Messiah with the Boulder Messiah Chorale. She has performed the roles of Frida Kahlo and Alicia in Frida Kahlo and the Bravest Girl in the World with Central City Opera’s Touring Company since 2022. Other past engagements include La Bergère/La Chatte/L’Écureuil in L’Enfant et les Sortilèges (Boulder Opera Company), Nancy in Albert Herring (Miami Classical Music Festival), Dritte Dame in Die Zauberflöte (University of Denver), and Lupe Marin/Mrs. Rockefeller in Frida (Opera Artist Institute, Opera Steamboat). Miss Stanish holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Denver, a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Policy, both from Western Washington University.
