Kristina Stanek

The German mezzo-soprano Kristina Stanek makes her debut at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in the 2022/23 season in the new RING DES NIBELUNGEN under the baton of Daniel Barenboim, staged by Dmitri Tcherniakov in the roles of the 2nd Norn and Roßweiße. As an ensemble member of the Hamburg State Opera , she will appear as Prince Orlofsky in DIE FLEDERMAUS, Hänsel in HANSEL UND GRETEL, Maddalena in RIGOLETTO, Olga in EUGEN ONEGIN and as Sonyetka in a new production of LADY MACBETH VON MZENSK under the baton of Kent Nagano. There she most recently sang Suzuki in MADAMA BUTTERFLY, Olga in EUGEN ONEGIN and Flora in LA TRAVIATA. They will have further commitments to the Ruhrtriennalelead, where she will sing in the music theater creation "I walk under louder shadows" by the director Elisabeth Stöppler under the direction of Peter Rundel in the Jahrhunderthalle Bochum and to the Kulturpalast Dresden as the 2nd norn in a concert GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG under the direction of Marek Janowski. In February 2022 she made her brilliant debut as Eboli at the Theater Basel in Verdi's DON CARLOS in a new production by Vincent Huguet under the musical direction of Michele Spotti. Because of the pandemic, her debuts as Carmen at the Hamburg State Opera in Bizet's opera of the same name, as Rosina in IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA at the Komische Oper Berlin and at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and as Dido in DIDO AND AENEAS at the Concertgebouw Brugge had to be cancelled. From 2017 to 2020 she was a member of the ensemble at the Theater Basel , where she enjoyed great success as Cecilio in Mozart's LUCIO SILLA in the production by Hans Neuenfels, as Mary Shelley in Michael Wertmüller's world premiere DIODATI. INFINITE, celebrated as Suzuki in MADAMA BUTTERFLY, as Rosina in IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, as Soprano 4 in Luigi Nono's AL GRAN SOLE CARICO D'AMORE and as Cherubino in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO. Another highlight of this period was the role of Mercédès in CARMEN under Marco Armiliato and the Zurich Philharmonia at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival . In 2018 SONY Classical released a CD with Kristina Stanek as the soloist in BEETHOVEN'S 9TH SYMPHONY with the Dresden Philharmonic under Michael Sanderling. From 2015 to 2017 Kristina Stanek belonged to the ensemble of the Karlsruhe State Theater and was there, among other things, as Romeo in Bellini's I CAPULETI EI MONTECCHI, Hänsel in HÄNSEL UND GRETEL, Cherubino in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, Annio in LA CLEMENZA DI TITO, 3. Dame in THE MAGIC FLUTE and to be heard as Wellgunde in Wagner's RHEINGOLD. Kristina Stanek was previously a member of the ensemble at Theater Trier , where she performed roles such as the title roles in Bizet's CARMEN and Gluck's ORFEO, as well as Sesto in LA CLEMENZA DI TITO, Concepcion in L'HEURE ESPAGNOLE, Maddalena in RIGOLETTO, Prinz Orlofsky in DIE FLEDERMAUS and Olga in EUGEN ONEGIN designed. She has sung under conductors such as Kent Nagano, Ivor Bolton, Marco Armiliato, Axel Kober, Giampaolo Bisanti, Ainars Rubikis, Jonathan Darlington, Joana Mallwitz, Titus Engel, David Parry, Antonello Allemandi, Erik Nielsen, Kristiina Poska, Gianluca Capuano, Christopher Molds and has worked with directors such as Hans Neuenfels, Dmitri Tcherniakov, David Bösch, Vincent Huguet, Sebastian Baumgarten, Lydia Steier, Stephan Kimmig, Barbara Frey and Yuval Sharon. Kristina Stanek comes from Krefeld and studied at the Robert Schumann Hochschule für Musik in Düsseldorf and at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she completed her master's degree with distinction with Lillian Watson.
