Biography

Laura Looper

Soprano Laura Looper is currently pursuing a masters degree in voice at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she also received her Bachelor’s degree in 2024. She is studying under the tutelage of Heidi Grant Murphy. Most recently, Laura was a young artist at the Brevard Music Center Janiec Opera Company for the past 2 years, playing the roles of Tina in Jonathan Dove’s Flight, Cendrillon in Viardot’s Cendrillon, and covering the Queen of the Night as well as the Controller in Flight. At the Jacobs School of Music, Laura has performed the roles of Adele in Die Fledermaus and Johanna in Sweeney Todd, as well as singing in the choruses for Carmen, Romeo and Juliette, Candide, Highway One USA, and most notably, the world premiere of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay in collaboration with the Metropolitan Opera. Other roles include Atalanta in Serse with Chicago Summer Opera, Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro at the Utah Vocal Arts Academy, and covering the role of Despina at Tel Aviv Summer Opera. Laura was the first-place winner of the 2023 Indiana Matinee Musicale Collegiate Competition, and a semi-finalist in the 2022 National Orpheus Vocal Competition. Aside from singing, she recently completed a minor in Italian, and has a passion for the Italian language.
