I have been studying and working within the field of music since 2005, and have had many wonderful experiences and opportunities along my journey.  I am currently working on my DMA at @UNCG and still performing.  Music is a language spoken in many different tongues...however it touches the heart the same! This is why I do what I do... because I love it!

Biography

Lauren Harris

Lauren Harris (Soprano), born in Cleveland, Ohio, is currently living in Raleigh, NC. She received her Bachelors of Music Degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Oakwood University, in Huntsville, Alabama.  During her matriculation, she was afforded the opportunity to perform in Verdi’s Requiem (2006), Rosine in Pastieri’s Signor Deluso (2007), and Miss Todd in Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief.  Lauren then attended Georgia State University, in Atlanta, and received her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance, all the while performing many roles, including Baba/Madame Flora in Menotti’s The Medium, Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro, and Cecilia March in Adamo’s Little Women.  Lauren was a part of Atlanta Opera’s Educational Studio Tour of Dorff’s Stone Soup, in which she sung the role of the Mayor.  Upon graduating from GSU, Lauren became a part of the Sarasota Opera’s Young Apprentice Program.  For two seasons, she was able to hone her craft, perform across the city of Sarasota, and work with stellar coaches, stage directors, and conductors, as well as cover the role of Mary in Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman.  She was  awarded the Sarasota Opera Guild’s Young Artist Award.  Lauren has also performed the roles of La Badessa and La zia Principessa (Suor Angelica), Knusperhexe (Hansel und Gretel), Madame Armfeldt (A Little Night Music), Praskowia (The Merry Widow), Flosshilde (Gotterdammerung), and Ines (Il Trovatore).  She has transitioned from Mezzo-soprano to Soprano and debuted her first soprano role with The Cleveland Opera as Serena from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess (2019).  In 2022, she was a soprano soloist for Traverse City Opera’s production Voice of A Woman.  She is currently working on her DMA at The University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG), in the studio of Clara O’Brien.
