Biography

Lawrence Wilde

Lawrence Wilde is an educator, music theorist, and composer of choral, chamber, orchestral, and electronic music. Described as “passionate and dramatically contoured” by The New York Times, Wilde's works have been commissioned and performed by world-leading ensembles, including the Kronos Quartet, Eighth Blackbird, JACK Quartet, So Percussion, Tesla Quartet, Moscow String Quartet, Ensemble Mise-En, ÆON Ensemble, Variant 6, among others. Wilde has held research and teaching fellowships at Princeton University, The Juilliard School, among others, and composition fellowships at the Tanglewood Music Festival, the Aspen Music Festival, the Bang On A Can Music Festival and others. His compositions and multimedia installations have been presented internationally at music festivals and venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center Out of Doors, Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, Centro Nacional de Difusion Musical, among others. Wilde holds a Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in composition from the Juilliard School, a Master's of Fine Art (M.F.A.), and a Ph.D. in composition from Princeton University.
