Soprano Lillian Broderick has been praised for her "passionate lyricism and high notes" (Times Argus). A tenth-generation Vermonter, she has performed throughout the United States, as well as in Italy and Germany—most recently as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro in Scharbeutz, DE. Recent local performances include Lieschen in Bach's Coffee Cantata, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, and an opera extravaganza at Unadilla this summer, where she appeared as Gilda in Rigoletto, Marzelline in Fidelio, and Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro—all in one evening.
Last year, she participated in Middlebury Language Schools' German for Singers program, singing Susanna in a German adaptation of Le Nozze di Figaro. She is also an alumna of the Ezio Pinza Council for American Singers of Opera, where she studied bel canto repertoire with Maurizio Arena and the late soprano Claudia Pinza.
Lillian completed a Master of Music at the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre program, where she performed La Prima Cercatrice in Suor Angelica, The Rose in Portman's The Little Prince, and covered Abigail Williams in Ward's The Crucible. At UKOT, she received the 2019 Phyllis Jenness Vocal Scholar Award, which recognizes "an outstanding graduate voice student with exceptional talent and dedication to music and singing."
Lillian's career has been supported by the Vermont Arts Council and the Vermont Italian Cultural Association.
In addition to performing, Lillian maintains a private voice studio in Montpelier.
