Biography

Lina Chung

Lina Chung, a Korean-American soprano, is based in New York City and Boston. She holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the Mannes School of Music and a Bachelor of Music degree from the New England Conservatory.

Her recent operatic credits include Erste Knabe in Die Zauberflöte, Gilda in Rigoletto, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, and Pousette in Manon with Mannes Opera. At the New England Conservatory, she performed as Marzelline in Fidelio, Natalia in A Month in the Country, and Consuelo in West Side Story. She also appeared as Cunegonde in Candide with the Schmidt Vocal Institute at the Frost School of Music.

On the concert stage, Lina has been featured in Isabella Leonarda’s Ave Regina Caelorum with the NEC Concert Choir and Gounod’s Gallia at the Atlanta Korean Festival at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. She has also championed contemporary repertoire, premiering O Sacrum Convivium and O Magnum Mysterium by BOSBA in Jordan Hall.

Lina has been recognized with First Prize at both the Schmidt Vocal Competition and the Georgia Christian University Competition, Second Prize at the American Prize Vocal Competition, and honors from the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA).

In addition to her work as a performer, Lina is dedicated to music education. She maintains a studio where she teaches piano and voice lessons to children, nurturing a love for music through iPianoLab.
