Armenian tenor Liparit Avetisyan is acknowledged as one of the most exciting lyric tenors of his generation. After his European debut  as Fenton in Falstaff in Cologne in 2016, important international debuts followed in rapid succession at leading theaters such as the Royal Opera House, Staatsoper unter der Linden, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Opernhaus Zürich, Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Opera Australia, Semperoper Dresden, and Staatsoper Hamburg. His roles have included Alfredo in La traviata, Rodolfo in La bohème, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, Des Grieux in Manon, and Lensky in Eugene Onegin. Avetisyan began the 2021/2022 as the Duca in the new production of Rigoletto at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden under Antonio Pappano. He subsequently sang a revival of La traviata in London. He made his debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker under Kirill Petrenko in his first performances of Vaudemont in Iolanta, and later repeated this role with the same forces in Festpielhaus Baden Baden.  Avetisyan returned to the Opernhaus Zürich and made his debut with Den Norske Opera in Rigoletto. He also returned to the Bolshoi in Moscow as Alfredo. In August of 2022 he will sing Rigoletto for the Bremen Festival. This summer, Avetisyan will return to the Opera Australia as Alfredo. In the 2022/2023 season, Avetisyan will star in the Semperoper Dresden’s new production of La Traviata.  He will sing his first Ernesto in Don Pasquale in Australia, and makes his debut at Glyndebourne as Nemorino in L’Elisir D’Amore. He will end the season at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in La Traviata. Born in Yerevan in 1990, Liparit Avetisyan moved to the Crimea, where he graduated from music school. From 2008 to 2011, Avetisyan studied with B. Kudryavtsev at the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, later transferring to the Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan to study with R. Hakobyants. During his studies, Avetisyan won Second Prize in both the Maria Biesu International Singing Competition and the III Muslim Magomaev International Vocalists Contest. At the Armenian National Academic Opera, he sang Alfredo in La traviata, Don José in Carmen, and the young Gypsy in Aleko. He debuted as the Duke in Rigoletto and sang the Verdi and Mozart Requiems with the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra. In October of 2015, Avetisyan sang Don José in Alexander Titel’s new production of Carmen in Yekaterinburg, subsequently making his Moscow debut in January of 2016 as Des Grieux in the new production of Massenet’s Manon at the Stanislavsky-Nemirovich-Danchenko Opera. He returned in June of 2016 as the Prince in the new staging of Prokofiev’s The Love for Three Oranges and as Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia. Avetisyan also participated in the company’s tour of China in Carmen.  Avetisyan made several important debuts in the 2016/17 season; as Alfredo  for his debuts at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and Opera Australia Rodolfo at the Frankfurt Opera. In the 2017/18 season, the tenor sang Alfredo at the Bolshoi Theatre, Staatsoper Hamburg, Staatsoper unter der Linden, Semperoper Dresden. He also returned to Covent Garden to make his role debut as Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore.and appeared as Rodolfo in La bohème at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Avetisyan made his French stage debut as Lensky in Eugene Onegin at the Opera du Rhin in Strasbourg and returned to the Cologne Opera as Alfredo in La traviata, and the Duke in Rigoletto. Avetisyan also returned to Covent Garden for their spring gala and made his Spanish stage debut singing his first Tamino in Die Zauberflöte at the Peralada Festival. Avetisyan made his role debut as Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor in the fall of 2018 in Dresden, after which he made his North American debut at the Seattle Opera as the Duke in Rigoletto. He also returned to Australia as Lensky. He began the 2019/20 season with his debut at Opernhaus Zürich as Alfredo in La traviata, after which he reprised the role at Covent Garden, Semperoper Dresden, Staatsoper Hamburg, and for his debut at the Bayerische Staatsoper.  Also active on the concert stage in recent years, Avetisyan has appeared at the XXI International Music Festival Stars of the White Nights in Saint Petersburg, Easter Festival in Moscow, Beethoven Fest in Poland, Mustonen Fest in Estonia, and Midem Fest in France. He also performed in benefit concerts dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide with Evgeni Kissin at Carnegie Hall and the Music Center at Strathmore in Washington. The tenor has collaborated with such conductors as Sir Antonio Pappano, Constantin Orbelian, Anton Orlov, Vahan Martirosyan, Lior Shambadal, Eduard Topchyan, Michael Guettler, Vladimir Jurovsky, and many others. Avetisyan recorded the role of Cassio in Sony’s upcoming release of Otello, starring Jonas Kaufmann and conducted by Maestro Pappano.
