Biography

Liz Rosa

Known for her sense of humor, creative performances, and unusually entertaining arrangements and compositions, NYC-based musician Liz Rosa maintains a busy schedule as an instrumentalist, teaching artist, music director, and composer/arranger.

Liz earned her MA in Music and Music Education at Teachers College, Columbia University in 2022 and her Bachelor of Music in Bassoon Performance and Music Education at the Eastman School of Music (ESM) in 2017. Liz has performed with renowned artists that span a wide range of styles including Béla Fleck, Renée Fleming, Alexander Markov, Nargiz Aliyarova, and RZA. She can be heard on various recordings, including Sam Adler’s Concerto for Guitar with Eastman Philharmonia as principal bassoon, the soundtrack for Star Trek Continues, Eastern Wind Symphony's 2018 album Elements, and the soundtrack for the upcoming short film Chuck and Fern. Liz also plans to release her own genre-bending music in late 2024. As an artist, she strives to bridge the gaps between classical and popular music and create a fun and engaging experience for the 21st-century audience.

Liz’s compositions and arrangements for winds, vocals, and percussion have been heard by national and international audiences on both television and radio such as WHEC, WXXI, Abbey 104, the International Double Reed Society Conference, ESM’s Double Reed Christmas and Holiday Sing, and the Mostly Modern Festival. She is active as a screen composer, and has written for projects including the NY International Film Award-Winning Trailer, Gold Coast, as well as upcoming short film RTS with the New York City Short Film Club. Her favorite collaborators are comedians, and Liz has provided music for stand-up shows (Broadway Comedy Club), Sketch Comedy (Better on Paper), and TikTok (Hey Roommate! Comedy). Dearest to her heart, her arrangement of the Theme Song from Late Night with Seth Meyers was featured on NBC's Late Night in 2014.

When she is not immersed in the world of music, Liz enjoys late night television, New York City, and gourmet cheese. Professional affiliations include the American Federation of Musicians (Local 802), National Association for Music Education, American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP), and the International Double Reed Society.
