Lizbeth Yanez
(She/Her) Trumpeter and educator, Lizbeth Yanez, was born and raised in Atlanta, GA and began playing the trumpet at age 11 in her middle school band. During her high school career, she was under the guidance of Michael Tiscone and attended programs such as: the Atlanta Symphony’s Talent Development Program, Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Brevard Summer Music Festival (2017).  From a young age she has been an advocate for promoting diversity and equity for women and people of color in the arts.

Biography

Lizbeth Yanez

Trumpeter and educator, Lizbeth Yanez, was born and raised in Atlanta, GA and began playing the trumpet at age 11 in her middle school band. During her high school career, she was under the guidance of Michael Tiscone and attended programs such as: the Atlanta Symphony’s Talent Development Program, Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Brevard Summer Music Festival (2017). Lizbeth is also a  recipient of the Lift Music Fund.  From a young age she has been an advocate for promoting diversity and equity for women and people of color in the arts. Lizbeth holds a Bachelor's degree in trumpet performance from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music where she studied the modern trumpet with John Rommel and baroque trumpet with Kris Kwapis. While at IU, Lizbeth performed various ensembles such as the orchestra, pit orchestra for operas, band, the Bloomington Bach Cantata, IU Brass Band, and the IU Brass Choir. While at her time in Indiana, she had performed with ensembles such as the Atlanta Symphony Brass Quintet for their Atlanta Symphony musicians apprecitaion concert, Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra and Bourbon Baroque. 

Lizbeth is currently earning her Master’s degree from the Yale School of Music under the instruction of Kevin Cobb. At Yale, she is currently an active member of the Yale Philharmonia and the Yale Brass Quintet. Lizbeth is also a music instructor for the AOK Salvation Army Conservaroty where she works with kids and teaches band, music theory, and private lessons and is also a member of the Chromatic Brass Collective.
