Biography

Lore Alán

American tenor, Lore Alán, has been dazzling audiences with their clear tone and heroic voice around New Mexico since 2021. An alum of the University of New Mexico's graduate department, Alán performed both Tamino and Monostatos in the 2023 production of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte with the UNM Opera Theatre. In 2022, they made their principal role debut with the school in Britten's Albert Herring performing the titular role. Alán appeared with Opera Southwest in 2024 as the role of Peasant in Martín's Before Night Falls, where they also covered the roles of Pepe and The Official .They premiered the roles of Jaime, Judío 2, and Judío 4 in Adam Del Monte's world premiere flamenco opera Llantos 1492 with the company in February 2025. Alán joined the chorus of The Santa Fe Opera's thrilling production of Wagner's Der fliegende Holländer for the 2023 Festival Season. Alán has made frequent appearances with Albuquerque-based opera dinner theater company, Opera on the Menu, where they have performed excerpts from roles such as Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Rodolfo (La bohème), Nemorino (L'elisir d'amore), and Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni). In June 2024, Alán appeared in Viardot's Cendrillon with the dinner theater company in the roles of le Prince charmant and le comte Barigoule. They were awarded the Carmoline Grady Award (2022) and the Schubert Award (2023) from the Vocal Artistry Art Song Festival, a New Mexico based art song competition. Alán's concert soloist debut was with the St. John's Bach Project singing the tenor solo in Bach's BWV 102 in August 2024. Alán will be attending the Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana for their PD in Solo Performance in August 2025. They received their BM in Voice Performance from the University of Wisconsin of Stevens Point under the guidance of soprano, Susan Bender, and their MM in Voice Performance from the University of New Mexico where they studied with tenor, James Flora.
