Madison Falkenstine is a soprano based in Boulder, Colorado. She obtained a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Metropolitan State University of Denver and a Master’s of Music from University of Colorado. She was awarded the Denver Lyric Opera Guild Scholarship, and the Beverly Fernauld Endowed Scholarship for Excellence in Voice in both 2019 and 2020. Additionally, she was honored to receive the Career Advancement Award from the Pikes Peak Opera League. She has participated in the Taos Opera Institute, and the Vocal Arts Festival with Opera Theatre of the Rockies. Madison has sung the soprano solos in the following masterworks: Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, G.F. Handel’s Gloria, Charpentier’s Messe de Minuit, and John Rutter’s Gloria. She has appeared with the Montview Westminster Choir, Colorado Springs Philharmonic, and Parish House Baroque Chamber Orchestra. Her opera roles include: Duchess Carolina in Moreno’s Luisa Fernanda, Woman 1 in Michael Ching’s R.S.B.E., Ma in Missy Mazzoli’s Proving Up, the Dew Fairy/Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel, Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance, and Woman 1 in The Knock by Aleksandra Vrebalov (upcoming). Madison’s musical theatre credits include: Beth in Merrily We Roll Along (Vintage Theatre), Mary Poppins in Mary Poppins (for which she received a Henry Award Nomination), Katherine Plumber in Newsies (ENT Center for the Arts), and Frenchy in Grease (PACE Center). Furthermore, Madison premiered "True Women of the West" with Art Song Colorado, of which she was the curator and performer. In addition to her singing engagements, Madison is also a theatrical director and educator. She currently works as a Teaching Artist with The DCPA. Her directing credits include: Seussical Jr., Bye Bye Birdie (Young Performer’s Edition), Tuck Everlasting TYA, Oliver Jr., and Oklahoma! (Young Performer’s Edition).
