Biography

Mara Davis

Soprano Mara Davis is a native of Henderson, Nevada and is a second-year master’s student at the Eastman School of Music, studying under Kiera Duffy. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. Recently, she was a finalist in the 2025 Kneisel Lieder Competition in addition to making her Eastman Opera Theatre Debut as the Witch in H&G, a Great and Terrible Story. An advocate for new music, Mara has workshopped and debuted many works for local and visiting composers in Utah. In 2024, the University of Utah premiered the fully scored version of Amy Scurria’s A.L.I.C.E., in which Mara sang the role of the Cheshire Cat. She was also a singer in the University Museum of Fine Arts’ installation of Lee Ming Wei’s Sonic Blossom, a Schubert-focused performance art project. Additionally, Mara has sung in the choruses of the Grand Teton Music Festival, Utah Symphony, and Salt Lake Symphony and has been a soloist with the Taylorsville-SLCC Symphony. When she’s not singing, Mara loves animals, teaching, trivia, baking, photography, solving jigsaw puzzles, and anything Hello Kitty!
