Marc Heller

With the 2016-17 season marking his house debut at Moscow's  Bolshoi Opera as Don Jose in Carmen, American tenor Marc Heller goes on this season to perform, among other engagements, the role of Cavaradossi in Tosca at the National Theater in Prague (house debut), as well as his debut in German dramatic repertoire as Florestan in Fidelio at the Deutsches Nationaltheater und Staatskapelle – Weimar. Mr. Heller will repeat the latter two productions throughout 2017-18 Last season saw Mr. Heller's house debut in performances at the Gran Teatre del Liceu - Barcelona as Otello (Verdi), a role which he repeated with great success in Budapest this Summer. One of Heller's performances at the Liceu is broadcast regularly worldwide (Mo. Philippe Auguin). Another highlight of last season was Heller's critically acclaimed debut and performance of the title role in Tobias Kratzer's new production of Meyerbeer's Le Prophete, at Karlsruhe. Also last season, Heller performed the role of Calaf in Turandot twice, at NI Opera Belfast in a production by Calixto Bieito, and with the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, a performance of which also has been simulcast nationally. He performed the role of Radames at Utah Opera and, in Metz, France, performed Turiddu and Canio in Cavalleria Rusticana/I Pagliacci in a new production of both operas. Mr. Heller has performed the role of Radames worldwide with frequency, highlighted productions of which include R.A.I. simulcast performances at the Pyramids of Giza, as well as in a new production at London's Royal Albert Hall (Royal Philharmonic Orchestra). Heller made his Metropolitan Opera debut opposite Placido Domingo in Tan Dun's The First Emperor as the opera's antagonist Gao Jian Li, and returned to the Met the following season as Tybalt in Romeo et Juliette opposite Roberto Alagna and Anna Netrebko, appearing in that production's worldwide HD movie simulcast. Mr. Heller’s recordings include performing the role of Chairman Mao in Adams’ Nixon in China on Naxos’ Grammy-nominated recording at Opera Colorado, Ma. Marin Alsop conducting.
