Biography

Marcella Astore

Marcella Astore is a mezzo-soprano based in New York City. She recently completed a Professional Studies Diploma in Voice at Mannes School of Music, where she studied with Amy Burton and Joshua Greene. Performance highlights with Mannes Opera include Bradamante in Handel’s Alcina, Ruth in Muhly’s Dark Sisters, Kleonike in Adamo’s Lysistrata, and Maman/La Chatte in Ravel's L'Enfant et les sortilèges, as well as Mannes’s workshop of David T. Little's Agamemnon in partnership with Theatre for a New Audience. 

She will join the Voces8 US Scholars for the 2025-26 season. Previous engagements include performances with Teatro Nuovo as a Studio Artist and Spoleto Festival USA as a Vocal Fellow, as well as Juilliard415 and Tenet Vocal Artists through Talks with Tenet. She is a two-time semifinalist in the George and Elizabeth Gregory Concerto Competition, a Peabody Launch Grant finalist, and current semifinalist in the virtual division of the Camille Coloratura Awards.

Marcella also holds a Master of Music in Voice from Mannes and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with a Minor in Business of Music from the Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University, where she was awarded the George R. Woodhead Endowed Prize in Voice.
