Marco Jentzsch studied singing with Irmgard Hartmann-Dressler in Berlin. As a member of the ensemble in Erfurt and Hanover, he has appeared as Tamino, Belmonte, Edgardo and Rossillon. In 2009 he made his debut in Cologne as Stolzing ("Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg"), which he subsequently sang at the Komische Oper Berlin (directed by Andreas Homoki) and at the Glyndebourne Festival in 2011. In 2010 he made his debut at the Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam as Erik (“The Flying Dutchman”), shortly afterwards at La Scala in Milan as Froh (“Das Rheingold”) under Daniel Barenboim. He later sang this role at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden. Roles such as Erik, Parsifal, Stolzing, Lohengrin, Max, Peter Grimes, Tambourmajor, Alviano ("The Drawn Ones") and Bacchus led Marco Jentzsch to the Hamburg State Opera, the Cologne Opera, to Tel Aviv (under the direction of Zubin Mehta), to Zurich and Basel (Apollo in "Daphne"), Wiesbaden, to the Dresden Semperoper, to the Milan Scala and to the Leipzig Opera. Most recently, he made his debut at the Volksoper Wien in the title role of “The Tales of Hoffmann”, at the Theater Klagenfurt as Tannhäuser and in the 2020/21 season as Florestan in Beethoven’s “Fidelio” at the Landestheater Linz. His first Ring production will now follow in 2021/22, starting with Rheingold (Loge), at the Bern Theater and his Tristan debut at the Hessian State Theater in Wiesbaden. at the Theater Klagenfurt as Tannhäuser and in the 2020/21 season as Florestan in Beethoven's "Fidelio" at the Landestheater Linz.
