Biography

Margaux Frohlich

Margaux Frohlich is a Franco-American soprano originally from Paris, France, now based in New York City. She has performed a wide-ranging repertoire spanning from Händel and Massenet to Janáček, Britten, and contemporary 21st-century works. According to “Progetto Italia News, “she brings to the stage […] great vocal presence". In the summer of 2025, Margaux made her debut with Delaware Valley Opera as “Little Red” in Knightly News by Jonathan Stinson under the direction of Carol Castel. In May 2024, she made her Italian debut as “La Fée” in Pauline Viardot’s Cendrillon, performing as a guest artist alongside the prestigious young artist program of Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Fabbrica. While at the Manhattan School of Music, Margaux performed notable roles including “Mustardseed” in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream with the Graduate Opera Theatre, conducted by George Manahan and directed by John de los Santos. She also appeared as “Betty Parris” in Robert Ward’s The Crucible, and as “Cinna” in the opening scene of Mozart’s Lucio Silla in the Opera Scenes Program. Her earlier training includes performances with Chicago Summer Opera, where she sang “Almirena” in Händel’s Rinaldo and “Noémie” in Massenet’s Cendrillon. In 2020, during the pandemic, Margaux made her debut with Peabody Opera Theatre as “Flora” in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw. Beyond staged productions, Margaux participated in Sewanee’s Winter Opera Fest, founded by Laura Brooks Rice. During the 2021 online program, she worked with renowned coaches, including Bryan Wagorn, Howard Watkins, and Gina Lapinski. She returned in both 2024 and 2025 to continue training with the Sewanee faculty and other distinguished coaches from opera companies across North America. Margaux holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Peabody Institute, where she studied under Randall Scarlata. She earned her Master of Music degree and Professional Studies Certificate from the Manhattan School of Music under the guidance of Ruth Golden, with whom she continues her vocal studies today.
