Biography

Mariah Berryman

Mariah Berryman is a soprano based in Cincinnati, Ohio originally from Dearborn, Michigan. She studies with Dr. Hugo Vera, Director of Opera and Vocal Arts at California State University Northridge. Previous stage credits include Pamina, Second Spirit, and Chorus in Die Zauberflote, Hanna in The Path to Heaven, Cendrillon in Cendrillon, Announcer in Gallantry, and Beth in Little Women (Opera).

She sings with the Cincinnati May Festival Chorus and has been invited as a guest speaker and soloist to many groups in the Athens, Ohio and Dearborn, Michigan areas, sharing her love of opera with members of the Garden Club of Dearborn, the Berwyn Center of Dearborn Heights, and the Rotary Club of Athens. She cantors regularly at parishes in the Cincinnati, Dayton, Athens, and Metro-Detroit areas and sings with the St. Xavier Liturgical Choir in Cincinnati and the Liturgy Choir at Historic St. Mary's Church in Dayton. In August 2024 she presented her masters Capstone-- Things (Can) Fall Apart: The Importance of Documentation and Contingency Planning in a Summer Opera Program-- in which she discussed leading projects such as the implementation of a new ticketing system and managing the program's YouTube channel. 

This summer she has sung Pamina in Die Zauberflote with Tokyo Opera Studio and will be singing Roselinde in Die Fledermaus with Berlin Opera Academy. 

When not on stage she runs her own quilting business, Berry Best Quilting, where she both takes commissions to make quilts from scratch or finishes clients quilts on her longarm quilting machine. 

She received her M.A.A. in Theater and Production Management from Ohio University in Summer 2024. She received her M.M. in Voice Performance in 2023 from Ohio University, and her Bachelor's of Music from the University of Dayton in 2021.
