Martin Godoy
Martin Godoy has received recognition for his artistry having won the Myrna Brown Competition, Austin Flute Society Young Artist Competition, Puerto Rico Flute Symposium Young Artist Competition, and Linda Chesis Young Artist Competition. He maintains a flute studio and teaches dance in the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD. Martin completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Flute Performance at the University of North Texas.

Biography

Martin Godoy

Martin Godoy is the first-place prize winner of the 2018 Myrna Brown Flute Competition, the first-place prize winner of the 2019 Maverick Solo Flute Competition, and winner of the 2018 UNT Concerto Competition. Additionally, he won second place in the 2018 Mid-South Young Artist, the 2018 Mid-Atlantic Young Artist Competition, and the 2016 Flutissimo Young Artist Competition. Martin earned the opportunity participate in the 2017 National Flute Association Young Artist Competition and the 2018 Byron Hester Competition. Martin has had the privilege of performing with ensembles such as the Las Colinas Symphony and the Dallas Winds. He has also had the honor of premiering a number of new chamber works with the Nova New Music Ensemble. He spent a summer at the Domaine Forget International Dance and Music Academy, where he studied with Susan Hoepnner. It was there that he was selected as a Gala Concert performer and for the public masterclass taught by renowned flutist Emmanuel Pahud. Other noted flutists that Martin has performed for include Leone Buyse, Bonita Boyd, Amy Porter, Trevor Wye, Jean Ferrandis, and Lorna McGhee. In addition to his studies and activities in music, he also teaches dance and color guard. Martin Godoy received his degrees in Music Education (BM) and Performance (MM) from the University of Texas at Arlington and completed his DMA at the University of North Texas where he served as a Teaching Fellow. His principal teachers include Dr. James Scott, Terri Sundberg, Dr. Elizabeth McNutt, and Dr. Sarah Frisof.
