Mary-Hollis Hundley

Mary-Hollis Hundley, soprano from Louisville, KY, was to be joining the roster of the Metropolitan Opera during the 2020-21 season as a cover in Heggie’s Dead Man Walking. She was also set to debut at The Glimmerglass Festival as Zemina in Wagner’s Die Feen and Fiordiligi in a reimagined production of Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte (entitled Cosi?), until their unfortunate cancellations due to COVID-19. During the 2018-19 season, she covered the title role in Janáček’s Jenůfa at the Santa Fe Opera, and was seen as Gertrud in Hänsel und Gretel at Michigan Opera Theatre and Magda Sorel in Menotti’s The Consul at Bronx Opera. Her 2017-18 season included Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Virginia Opera as well as three exciting covers - the title roles of Ariadne auf Naxos at Kentucky Opera, Regina (Blitzstein) at the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, and Medea in Corinto (Mayr) at Teatro Nuovo. She has received awards from the Brava! Opera Theater James M. Collier Competition, Santa Fe Opera, Wagner Society of New York, Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, George London Foundation, and Richard Gaddes Fund at the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis. She holds degrees from Mannes College the New School for Music and the University of Kentucky.
