Nationally-acclaimed baritone Matthew Juhlin is widely recognized for his colorful timbre and exquisite musicianship. Matthew has begun to pursue a M.M. in Voice at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He recently received a B.M. in Voice at Missouri State University under the teaching of Dr. Chris Thompson where he has been seen as Robin Oakapple (Ruddigore), Mr. Big Bad (Little Red’s Most Unusual Day), Don Alfonso (Cosi fan Tutte), and Simone (Gianni Schicchi) with Missouri State University Opera under the direction of Dr. Ann-Marie Daehn. During his time at MSU, Matthew performed as a young artist with Ozarks Lyric Opera in roles such as Top (The Tenderland), Don Pizarro (Fidelio), and Masetto (Don Giovanni). Matthew also attended the Young Artists Vocal Academy at Houston Grand Opera where he studied under Dr. Stephen King for the duration of the program, and for two years he has also attended the Vocal Immersion Program at Castleton, studying with mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung and tenor Paul Groves. Additionally, he has received multiple awards from the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), receiving 1st Place twice over the last few years in his categories at the National NATS conference.
