Meagan Gaskill
(She/Her) Flutist Meagan Gaskill is an active performer and teacher based in the Central Ohio region. She currently serves as the Flute Graduate Teaching Associate at The Ohio State University where she runs a private lessons studio and the Buckeye Flute Choir. Meagan is also a founding member of the Zephyr Winds who she regularly performs with.

Biography

Meagan Gaskill

Meagan Gaskill (she/her) is a flutist/piccoloist and teacher who currently resides in Columbus, Ohio and serves as President of the Central Ohio Flute Association. She is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The Ohio State University where she serves as the Graduate Teaching Assistant for the flute studio. She previously earned master's degrees in Flute Performance and Music Theory from Ohio State University and bachelor's degrees in Flute Performance and Mathematics from Pacific Lutheran University. Her primary teachers include Katherine Borst Jones, Jill Felber, and Dr. Jennifer Rhyne. 

As a performer, Meagan is a freelance musician in the Central Ohio region and is a member of the Columbus-based chamber ensemble, Zephyr Winds. She has won and placed several national competitions including 1st Place in the Central Ohio Flute Association Young Artist Competition and Finalist in the Wisconsin Flute Festival Young Artist Competition. She was a winner of the National Flute Association's Professional Flute Choir Competition in 2021 and Collegiate Flute Choir Competition in 2017. Meagan has also won the concerto competition at both The Ohio State University and Pacific Lutheran University. She has performed in national and international music festivals including playing principal flute for the Saluzzo Opera Academy in Italy and playing in the top orchestra at Marrowstone Music Festival in Washington state.

Meagan has taught flute for over five years, and she currently teaches both privately in Columbus and through Ohio State. Meagan is passionate about teaching and pedagogy and will receive an additional certificate in College and University Teaching with her doctorate. As the Teaching Assistant at Ohio State, she runs a lessons studio, conducts the Buckeye Flute choir, and coaches chamber ensembles. Meagan has also previously taught courses in the core music theory and aural training sequence at Ohio State. Additionally, she has years of experience tutoring math and writing.
