Irish-Canadian tenor Michael Colvin has appeared to critical acclaim on opera and concert stages throughout Canada, the USA and Europe. His most recent role debuts include the title role of Peter Grimes at English National Opera, his Royal Opera House debut as Rodolphe in a new production of Guillaume Tell, Jaquino Fidelio with Le Cercle de l’Harmonie in Paris and Brussels, Herod Salome at NI Opera, Dr Caius in a new production of Falstaff at Canadian Opera Company, Der Steuermann Der Fliegende Holländer for Pacific Opera Victoria, Narraboth Salome for Manitoba Opera and Goro Madame Butterfly for English National Opera. A fine Britten interpreter, Colvin has performed to great acclaim the role of Bob Boles Peter Grimes at ENO, Opera de Oviedo, Vlaamse Opera and with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Vladimir Jurowski and with Accademia di Santa Cecilia and Sir Antonio Pappano. He is also a much admired Peter Quint Turn of the Screw, Male Chorus Rape of Lucretia, Mayor Upfold Albert Herring, Flute A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Red Whiskers Billy Budd. Recent concert engagements include a recital with Scottish Opera, as part of their Sir Walter Scott and Opera series, Beethoven Missa Solemnis for the Richard Eaton Singers of Edmonton; Das Lied von der Erde for Louisville Orchestra; Messiah with National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa and Seattle Symphony; and Haydn’s Creation with New Mexico Symphony. He also returned to Canadian Opera Company as Basilio in Le Nozze di Figaro.
