Dr. Getsinger holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Westminster Choir College, and a Bachelor of Music Education from Shepherd University. She has studied conducting with Earl Rivers, Brett Scott, Joe Miller, Amanda Quist, and James Jordan. During her time at the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Getsinger served as the University of Cincinnati Women’s Chorus director and had the honor of being the first CCM Choral Studies student awarded full funding by the university for an international teaching and conducting exchange at the Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas in Portugal. Prior to joining the Newberry College faculty, Dr. Getsinger was on faculty at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and Xavier University. She began her career in public schools teaching choral and general music at the middle school level. An active performer and choral singer, Dr. Getsinger has sung with ensembles including the Philadelphia Symphonic Choir, CCM Chamber Choir, Westminster Choir, Westminster Symphonic Choir, and Westminster Kantorei. She has had the privilege of singing with some of the world’s top orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, and Berlin Philharmonic, under the direction of distinguished conductors such as Yannick Nezet-Seguin, Simon Rattle, Alan Gilbert, and Jane Glover.
