Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, soprano Morgan Babb has built a career that bridges the worlds of opera performance, concert repertoire, and teaching. From her earliest musical experiences in church choirs and community ensembles, Morgan’s artistry has been defined by a passion for storytelling through music.
Morgan earned her Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Texas at Arlington, where she developed as both a performer and educator. She has since gone on to perform leading roles including Cendrillon in Cendrillon with Opernfest Berlin, Angelica in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, and Poppea in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea.
After completing her degree, Morgan dedicated several years to teaching, working as a voice teacher, piano instructor, and choir director for students ranging in age from elementary school through high school. She served as Assistant Director of Choirs at the Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy and taught at Reagan Middle School, while also maintaining a vibrant private studio in Dallas. Through teaching, Morgan cultivated her skills as a communicator and mentor, fostering in her students both musical ability and self-confidence.
Still, her dream of pursuing opera at the highest level prevailed. In 2022, Morgan moved to Chicago to pursue her Master of Vocal Performance at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. There, she took on leading roles such as Angelica in Puccini’s Suor Angelica and Poppea in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea. In concert, she appeared as a soprano soloist in Schubert’s Mass in G and Beethoven’s Mass in C. These performances highlighted her versatility as both an interpreter of sacred music and a commanding stage presence in opera.
Morgan’s career has since taken her onto national and international stages. She has been engaged as a chorister with Atlanta Opera in Puccini’s Turandot and with Palm Beach Opera in Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de Perles. Upcoming highlights include her European debut in the title role of Massenet’s Cendrillon with Opernfest Berlin in 2025, a milestone that reflects her growth into a leading soprano of distinction.
Her concert repertoire is equally rich, with solo appearances in Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Vaughan Williams’ Mass in G minor, and Haydn’s Mass in D minor. Whether on the operatic stage or in the concert hall, Morgan’s performances are praised for their expressivity, vocal warmth, and ability to connect authentically with audiences.
