Biography

Morgan Mastrangelo

I’m an opera singer, actor, and multi-instrumentalist, proudly hailing from the part of New Jersey that’s close enough to New York that everyone just calls it “The City”. I trained in classical piano for 10 years, then discovered that Mozart and Beethoven wrote songs in addition to piano pieces and fell pretty much instantly in love with the tradition and technique of classical voice. It was at this time I also performed in my first musical (Urinetown. I was 12. I loved it.) I spent my undergrad at Northwestern University, performing in musicals, operas, and concerts on, off and nowhere near the Northwestern Stage. Most recently, I appeared as Prince, the dog, in the Chicago premiere of David T. Little and Royce Vavrek’s opera, Dog Days. During the summers, I developed a world premiere musical at the New York Musical Festival, churned out nine shows in nine weeks with the College Light Opera Company, and sung the roles of Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi) and Basilio (Le Nozze di Figaro) with the Ravenna Orchestra in Novafeltria, Italy I love learning new instruments (currently: Alto Sax, Modular synth), Collecting old bits of music history, Scriabin Op. 28, Alizarin crimson, and the woods.
