Biography

Natalie Vong

Chinese – Canadian Mezzo - Soprano Natalie Vong is a third year D.M. Voice Performance student at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Chosen as the 2025 recipient of the Wilfred C. Bain Scholarship and a 2024 recipient of the "New Emerging Artist Grant" from the Canadian Art's Council, Vong is an active performer and teacher of opera, classical singing, and music of all ages. 

Since the age of 11, Vong started participating in various ensembles, choirs and music camps around Macau, Hong Kong and Canada. Realizing her love for music, Natalie decided to take professional voice lessons at the age of 16. Some of her past experiences include Ruggiero (Alcina), La Badessa (Suor Angelica), Sesto (Giulio Cesare), Hansel (Hansel and Gretel), Third Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Praskowia (The Merry Widow), Suor Mathilde (Dialoghi delle Carmelitane) and opera choruses of Die Zauberflöte and Le Nozze di Figaro across Canada, Italy, and the United States. 

This summer Vong originiated the character Catherine in the world premiere of Canadian composer Colin Doroschuk’s Jéhanne with Opera Quest. She earned both her Master of Music in Performance and Literature and a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance at the University of Western Ontario studying with Dr. Sophie Roland.
