Over the course of his career, Nicholas Kreider has performed a variety of roles, ranging in style from contemporary to classic. His recent seasons as an Artist in Residence with Opera Colorado were no exception – during the 2018-2019 and 2017-2018 seasons, Nicholas performed the roles of Marchese D'Obigny in La Traviata, Pablo Picasso in After Life (Cipullo), Antonio in Le nozze di Figaro, Customs Sergeant in La bohème, 1st Nazi/SS Guard in the premiere of Steal a Pencil for me (Cohen), and Pistola in Falstaff. Mr. Kreider's other credits include a reprisal of his performance as Pistola at the Crested Butte Music Festival in 2018. Mr. Kreider's residencies with Opera Colorado also included extensive performances in schools across the state of Colorado in touring productions. Roles include Dandini in Cinderella (Rossini), Father in Hansel and Gretel, and Capulet/Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet (Gounod). Mr. Kreider was an apprentice artist for Bel canto at Caramoor in 2017. Mr. Kreider earned his B.M. and M.M. in Vocal Performance from Michigan State University, where he studied with Professor Richard Fracker. There, he performed the roles of Colline in La bohème, Guglielmo in Così Fan Tutte, George Emerson in A Room with a View (Nelson), Chou Hu in The Savage Land (Xiang), Belcore in L'Elisir d'Amore, and Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro. His time at Michigan State University included several performances in Beijing, China, including a sold-out performance of The Savage Land at the Peking National Opera House.
