Nicole began her musical career in a realm slightly different to that of percussion: in her fourth grade band program as a flutist. Captivated by the influence it had over her as a quiet, shy student, she fell deeply in love with the instrument, spending her time diving into countless repertoire of music that catered towards her liking (particularly, that of Disney musicals).
Her first experience with music drew her to pursue other instruments around that same time, with her briefly taking piano lessons from 2017 to 2018. During that time, she auditioned for the Crescendo International Music Competition, earning a Second Place award as well as a performance in Carnegie Hall, which took place in January 2018.
Her musical life took an unexpected twist when she discovered her love for percussion, a journey that began in July 2018 when she joined her high school's marching band. With prior piano experience, acclimating to the feel of the marimba felt natural and incredibly exciting to the growing musician. She officially made the switch to percussion at the beginning of her junior year in September 2020; a decision she is so glad that she made.
Throughout high school, Nicole could be seen performing with local colleges, community ensembles, and regional bands, as well as holding leadership positions in her high school's ensembles and music organizations. The highlight of her high school career culminated in February 2022, where she successfully auditioned for the NJMEA All-State Symphonic Band, resulting in a performance at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, NJ.
Currently, Nicole is studying at Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY under the leadership of Dr. Mike Truesdell and Professor Conrad Alexander in pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Music Education. Active as a student and performer, she has played in the Ithaca College Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Concert Band, Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, and Steel Band, as well as in numerous student recitals as a collaborator.
