Paul Hill
(He/They, Him/Them) Bass Paul Leland Hill recently graduated from the University of Michigan with an MM in Vocal Performance. Paul sang the title characters in U of M's Don Pasquale and Figaro in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro at UVAA in 2021.He also sang Sarastro in the Magic Flute with Opera on Site and Opera Modo in 2022. He recently apprenticed at Opera Neo, Sarasota Opera, Utah Opera, and Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre.

Biography

Paul Hill

Paul Leland Hill is a bass from Clinton, Utah. Paul graduated with a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance at the University of Michigan in May 2022. While at UM, he appeared as the Sodbuster in Missy Mazzoli’s Proving Up, Don Pasquale in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, and Pandolphe in Massenet's Cendrillon. He recently sang Sarastro in The Magic Flute at Music on Site and Opera Modo. He apprenticed at Sarasota Opera in 2020. In the summer of 2021, he attended the Taos Opera Institute and sang Figaro in Utah Valley Arts Academy’s production of Le nozze di Figaro. Paul was a company member at Utah Festival Opera for their 2022 season covering the roles of Sarastro and Zuniga and stepped in for the role of Mr. Maraczek in She Loves Me. He acted the role of Cosmé McMoon in Glorious at the Lakeside Theatre Company and is singing Angelotti at Opera on the James in Nov of 2022. In January, Paul will be rejoining Sarasota Opera to sing the Imperial commissioner in Madama Butterfly and will be covering the role of Silva in Verdi’s Ernani. Paul received an undergraduate degree in Piano Performance from the University of Utah. Paul continues to play the piano, coach, and teach young singers in addition to pursuing his operatic career.
