Biography

Peter Lewis

Graduated with BA in Drama from University of Washington, Seattle, 1987.  The next year 1988 I performed the full season at American Players Theatre in Spring Green, WI, playing Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream. I spent several full seasons at the Cumberland County Playhouse, in Crossville, TN circa 1994, originating the role of Burl in the long running bluegrass gospel comedy "Smoke On The Mountain". Also at CCP I was commissioned to write and perform a caberet about the town, "Crossville Suites", and also wrote and performed a spoof called "The UFO Show". Other theatres performed at include the state theatre of Virginia, The Barter, Apple Dinner Theatre, for the Colquitt-Miller Arts Council in Colquit, GA performing as Scrooge in a new version of The Christmans Carol, and then later wrote and performed the music for a new version of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Around 2000-2001 I led a comedy folk band which performed at various venues in New York City including the Sidewalk Cafe called "For Pete's Sake".  My niche is a guitar playing singer/songwriter and character actor. Always looking for the absurd a la The Marx Brothers, with a touch of the balladeer a la Jim Croche. Currently writing a musical about a bunch of porch pickers. Looking for opportunities to act, write.and possibly direct my own material.
