Rachel Policar

American soprano Rachel Policar has been described by critics as “a standout” "dazzling" and “silver-voiced” for her portrayals of opera, musical theatre and concert repertoire, most notably in her Off Broadway debut with the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene as Goldele in the Golden Bride. A sought-after performer across many genres, and a lover of new music, Rachel’s past season began on Broadway, performing at the Circle In The Square Theatre for the workshop of Libby Larsen’s Barnum’s Bird, followed by the NYC workshop of Santa Fe Opera’s M. Butterfly with the American Lyric Theatre. She returned to Savannah, GA for the 2020 American Traditions Competition — for which she was awarded 4th place! She is the first-ever, two-time, back to back 4th place winner at the ATC. During the pandemic, Rachel originated the role of Leah in the workshop of City Lyric Opera’s commissioned new opera with music by Lori Laitman and libretto by Leah Lax - Uncovered. The full opera is currently scheduled for Fall 2022 - stay tuned! So far in 2021, she will be seen as Ludmilla in a Zoom reading of the play An Opera for Terezin, directed by Keturah Stickann, and as the soprano in STOP, Bully!, a Zoom children’s opera by Steve Aiken and Jason Heald, conceived by Dean Anthony. She has also been doing virtual concerts, custom parodies and Musegrams!
