Biography

Rachel Schlesinger

Rachel Schlesinger is a compelling lyric soprano known for her vocal finesse, expressive storytelling, and emotional depth. She is a semi-finalist in the Palm Springs Opera Guild Competition and the 2025 James Toland Vocal Arts Competition (Tier II). This season, she will portray Alcina and the Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro with the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, showcasing her versatility across both dramatic and lyric repertoire.

Rachel is pursuing her Master of Music in Vocal Performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she studies under César Ulloa, and holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music. She has brought to life a wide range of operatic roles, including Dorinda (Orlando), Gertrude (Hamlet), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Despina (Così fan tutte), and Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro). She has also been featured in major scenes as Micaëla (Carmen), Iolanta (Iolanta), and Adina (L’elisir d’amore).

A recipient of numerous awards, Rachel has earned First Place in the NATS Central Region Classical Voice Competition and the SUNY Purchase Concerto Competition, performing Beethoven’s Ah! Perfido, as well as Third Place in the Shirley Rabb Winston Voice Scholarship Competition. She has participated in prestigious young artist programs including Classical Lyric Arts, the Sewanee Summer Music Festival, and the International Summer Festival of Morelia. With a deep commitment to technical precision, stylistic versatility, and authentic storytelling, Rachel continues to cultivate a promising career as a young artist in the operatic world.
