Rachel Schlesinger is a Slovak-American soprano from New York currently pursuing her Master of Music in Vocal Performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under the mentorship of César Ulloa. She has performed roles such as Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Noémie (Cendrillon), and Dorinda (Orlando), and is especially drawn to French repertoire, finding deep connection in the elegant lyricism and expressive nuance of composers like Bizet, Gounod, Massenet, and Debussy. Her artistry has been recognized through national competitions, including being named a semi-finalist in the James Toland Vocal Arts Competition Tier II, receiving a National Encouragement Award from the Shirley Rabb Winston Voice Scholarship, First Place in the NATS Central Region Lower Classical Division, and an Honorable Mention in the Hal Leonard Art Song Vocal Competition. Rachel has also refined her craft through selective young artist programs such as Classical Lyric Arts in Italy and France, the Sewanee Summer Music Festival, and the International Summer Festival of Morelia. Deeply connected to her Slovak heritage, she is passionate about Slavic vocal music and actively studies the diction, phrasing, and poetic traditions of Czech, Slovak, Polish, and Russian repertoire, bringing both technical precision and emotional depth to her interpretations.
