Raúl Gutiérrez is a mexican tenor which voice has been described as resonant, colorful and with incredibly beauty. He is currently part of Jennifer Rowley’s private studio and the Vincerò Academy. He began his musical studies of solfeggio and choir with pianist Salomé Herrera Noriega (concert artist from the INBA) and organist Juan Carlos Chávez Barajas in the School of Musical Education, Piano and Organ of Durango, and quickly stood out to become a soloist in several gala concerts.

Biography

Raúl Gutiérrez

Raúl Gutiérrez is a mexican tenor which voice has been described as resonant, colorful and with incredibly beauty. He is currently part of Jennifer Rowley’s private studio and the Vincerò Academy. He began his musical studies of solfeggio and choir with pianist Salomé Herrera Noriega (concert artist from the INBA) and organist Juan Carlos Chávez Barajas in the School of Musical Education, Piano and Organ of Durango. He began as part of the choir of that institution, however his voice soon stood out so he became a soloist in several gala concerts. Shortly thereafter, he entered the UJED School of Music (Durango, Dgo.) under the tutelage of Susana Marrero. In 2015 he was one of the 3 singers selected from the state of Durango to be part of the Residencias Ópera del Noreste, grant awarded by the Regional Fund for Culture and the Arts of the Northeast, CONACULTA, ICHICULT, Coahuila SEC, ICED, CONARTE and ITCA. There he received lessons from soprano Yvonne Garza, tenor Agim Hushi and tenor Fernando de la Mora. He also worked with Teresa Rodríguez, André Dos Santos, Horacio Almada, Ruby Tagle and Flor Herrera. This program concluded with a 5-concert tour in 5 Mexican cities. In 2019 he was the winner of the "XXX Francisco Araiza Competition" in the UNAM; he received the award for "Best Interpretation", which gave him the opportunity to study with renowned bass-baritone Alejandro Armenta and tenor Francisco Araiza at the Summer Opera Masterclass conducted by the European Music Institute Vienna (EMIV) in Vienna in 2020, in addition to being invited to participate in the International Festival of Music and Academy of Sankt Goar (Germany), which unfortunately was postponed due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Mr. Gutiérrez made his debut in 2021, playing Don Basilio and Don Curzio in Le Nozze di Figaro under the baton of Maestro Jorge Parodi with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Michoacán at the International Summer Opera Festival of Morelia. He has worked on his vocal technique by receiving lessons and taking part in several Masterclasses with renowned opera singers and coaches such as César Ulloa, Jennifer Rowley, Brian Jadge, Luis Ledesma, Francisco Araiza, Fernando de la Mora, Héctor Sosa, Jorge Parodi, Ángel Rodríguez, Rogelio Riojas-Nolasco, Mary Pinto, Danielle Orlando, Andrés Sarre, Sergio Vásquez and Teresa Rodríguez. He recently performed at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in the XXXVIII Carlo Morelli National Singing Competition where he won the Zarzuela Award, the Bellas Artes Award, the Francisco Araiza Award and the MOS (Mexico Opera Studio) Award. He was winner of the Kansas City District and received an Ecouragement Award in the Midwest Region round in the MET Laffont Competition 2022. Mr. Gutiérrez was granted with two important scholarships and will be attending a Summer Opera Festival at AIMS (American Institute of Musical Studies) in Graz, Austria and a masterclass with tenor Francisco Araiza in Vienna, Austria at the European Music Institute Vienna in July and August 2022 as well as making his Carnegie Hall debut with Vincero Academy in the season 2022-23.
