Rebecca Edmiston is a pianist dedicated to collaboration, pedagogy, and community engagement. As a graduate assistant and doctoral student in collaborative piano at Florida State University (FSU), she has recently worked for the FSU opera department’s Fall 2023 production of Il barbiere di Siviglia and coached students in the opera workshop program. She was recently invited to work as pianist-coach at Music On Site, Inc., where she performed Amahl and the Night Visitors in productions throughout central Kansas in December 2023. In the spring of 2024, she is a rehearsal pianist for FSU's production of Janáček's The Cunning Little Vixen. Rebecca thrives in collaboration with singers and instrumentalists alike, and she enjoys frequently performing in recitals at FSU. In past summers, she has worked as a vocal coach at Interlochen Center for the Arts and has received training at Emerald Coast Chamber Music Festival and The Collaborative Piano Institute.
A committed educator, Rebecca is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music with Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and currently maintains a private piano studio at Thomasville Road Academy of the Arts in Tallahassee, FL. As a board member of MTNA collegiate chapters, she has initiated and administered community workshops, clinics, and masterclasses which provide free instruction for pre-collegiate students, and she has presented about these events at the MTNA National Conference and National Collegiate Pedagogy Symposium.
Rebecca earned a Master of Music in collaborative piano at FSU and Bachelor of Music degrees in piano performance and choral music education at Liberty University. Her teachers have included Valerie Trujillo, Timothy Hoekman, Tad Hardin, and Lenny Seidel. In 2023, she released two EP recordings of Lenny Seidel's sacred piano arrangements which can be found on all digital streaming platforms.
