Biography

Rui Guan

RUI GUAN is a baritone from QingDao, China, and a first-year doctoral candidate at the University of North Texas. He performed the role of Germont in La traviata with The Central Academy of Drama in 2023 and received the Presidential Award from Manhattan School of Music, where he received his Master of Music degree. This summer, Rui performed the title role in Le nozze di Figaro with Miami Beach Classical Music Festival. In this upcoming season with UNT Opera, he will perform the title role in Gianni Schicchi and the role of The Conductor in That Hellbound Train. Rui is a student of Molly Fillmore and recipient of both the Winspear Opera Scholarship, the Edward Allen Baird Vocal Scholarship and the Gordon & Patsy Roe Voice Scholarship.
