Ryan Stoll, bass-baritone, is a Missouri-native currently based in Boston where he has appeared with the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras in the choruses of Carmen and la Boheme. While living in Boston, Ryan has performed with Odyssey Opera as Laurent in Tchaikovsky’s Maid of Orleans and as The Jailer in Norman Dello Joio's The Trial at Rouen, which received a Grammy nomination in 2021 and is now available to stream on Spotify; Boston Opera Collaborative as Colline in their creative staging of la Boheme at Turtle Swamp Brewery in Jamaica Plain; NEMPAC Opera Project as Masetto in Don Giovanni; and, as a last minute replacement in his Russian role debut, Prince Gudal in The Demon with Commonwealth Lyric Theater.
A lover of new opera, Ryan portrayed Guy Cotter in Everest, appeared in Jake Heggie’s Moby Dick, and performed in the world premiere of Dan Shore’s Freedom Ride with Chicago Opera Theater. He has workshopped Robert Aldridge’s Sister Carrie, Stacy Garrop’s The Transformation of Jane Doe, and Felicia Chen’s The Life and Death(s) of Alan Turing. He has also performed in Song from the Uproar with Chautauqua Opera, Evan Mack’s Roscoe with Albany Symphony Orchestra, and Silent Night with Fort Worth Opera. Additionally, Ryan recently made his debut with Boston’s own Juventas New Music Ensemble in their reverent concert titled Memory & Hope.
He appeared as a Young Artist with Chautauqua Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Sarasota Opera, Central City Opera, Chicago Opera Theater, and Opera Saratoga. While working as a Young Artist in Chicago, Ryan received the Lola Fletcher Award from The American Opera Society of Chicago in 2019. During the pandemic, Ryan has worked with Opera Saratoga, Boston Opera Collaborative, Opera on Tap, and is thrilled to be making his role debut as Dottore Grenvil with the BYSO
