Biography

Samantha Miller

Heralded as a singer with “skill and confidence” by the Columbus Dispatch, soprano, Samantha Miller, has enjoyed a professional career as a hybrid voice teacher and performer of various genres. She has held professional engagements with the West Virginia Symphony, Roanoke Symphony, Lynchburg Symphony, Virginia Opera, Opera Columbus, Opera Louisiane, Opera on the James, Opera Roanoke and Prelude to Performance in NYC.  Her favorite operatic roles include Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Adina in L’elisir d’amore, and  Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors. The versatility of her voice has enabled her to collaborate with various artists and organizations in concert repertoire, singing works such as Mahler's Kindertotenlieder, Laitman’s I Never Saw Another Butterfly, Schubert's Der Hirt auf dem Felsen, and Beethoven's 9th Symphony.

Dr. Miller is a Professor of Voice, Vocal Coordinator, and Opera Director at Liberty University. She has served on the faculty at Louisiana Christian University and the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. Many of Dr. Miller’s students, both past and present, have won or placed in national vocal competitions and are successfully entering the music industry as opera singers, musical theater performers, worship leaders, and performing artists. Her students are actively participating in summer programs and young artist programs with Opera Roanoke, Ohio Light Opera, Opera in the Ozarks, Opera Lucca, Saluzzo Opera Academy, Chicago Summer Opera, and Trentino Music Festival.  Samantha's productions at Liberty University include Don Giovanni in 2025, Die Zauberflöte in 2026, and will direct L'elisir d'amore in 2027.

In addition to opera, Samantha has performed with professional theater companies, including portraying Laurie in Oklahoma. Most recently, she performed Mrs. Paroo in The Music Man with Alluvion Theater Company. She is an active worship leader and has written several songs released on albums through All Peoples Church. The Wilderness Chronicles (2022), Still Small Voice (2019), and The Sound of Revival (2016) can be streamed on all music platforms.

Samantha is deeply committed to helping singers realize the full potential of their voices in all genres and styles while replicating that passion in her own singing. To her, there is not a single "right" approach to singing or teaching. Samantha has a strong passion for helping singers feel free to explore all that their instruments can do while respecting the realities of crossover singing by offering healthy technical options. In addition, Samantha longs to speak truth to singers about the mental, physical, and spiritual distress that comes with pursuing a career as a professional performer and provide a support system for singers who are recovering from traumatic experiences in the performance industry.
