Mexican Mezzosoprano, Sandra Aldaz Meraz started her formal singing studies at the age of 18 at the
Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua, in Chihuahua, Mexico, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in
Music Education. She made her international debut appearing as a soloist in several concerts with the
Hawaii International Music Festival in August 2017, she returned to this same festival in January 2024. In
September 2017 she was a finalist in the vocal competition “Olivia Gorra” in Mexico City. The following
year (2018) she performed in Città della Pieve, Italy during the premiere of the opera “Sacco e Vanzetti”
singing the main roles of Luigia Vanzetti and Comrad Blackwell as a guest artist of the International Opera
Theater of Philadelphia.
Sandra was awarded a full scholarship to study vocal performance at the College of Chinese and ASEAN
Arts at Chengdu University, in Chengdu, Sichuan, China in 2019.
At the age of 30, Ms. Aldaz has successfully performed several operatic roles like Carmen in Carmen,
Angelina in La Cenerentola and Nicklausse in Les contes d'Hoffmann. Sandra has sung with the State
Philharmonic Orchestra of Chihuahua and the UACH Symphonic Orchestra. In September of 2024, she
performed the role of Carmen in the opera Carmen by Bizet with the Lyrical Opera Theater in Utah.
From January, 2025 and until the end of March, 2025, Sandra has been singing with Sarasota Opera as
an apprentice artist, where she is also covering the role of Lola in Cavallleria Rusticana.
