Biography

Sarah Bowe

Bowe's prior faculty positions include Director of Choral Activities and Choral Music Education at Central Connecticut State University, where she directed the Chorale and University Singers, taught courses in conducting and methods, supervised student teachers, coordinated the undergraduate Music Education program, and advised the CCSU chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. She has also served as interim choral faculty at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she conducted the University Chorale.  Bowe maintains an active and varied schedule as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician, including festival performances with the Quabbin Valley Music Educators Association (MA), the Shoreline Music Festival (CT), and the Connecticut Music Educators Association. She has also conducted with Hartford Opera Theater and Laurel Music Camp (New Hartford, CT). She has worked with choirs and educators in the Northeast and South, including Connecticut, Massachusetts, Louisiana, and Texas. Conference appearances include presentations with the National Collegiate Choral Organization and the Southern Region of the American Choral Directors Association. As a vocalist, Bowe is a versatile ensemble artist and enjoys a diverse range of repertoire. She has regular engagements with Red Shift (Baton Rouge, LA) and Festina (Boston, MA), and made recent debuts with both VOCE (Hartford, CT) and Vellichor (Worcester, MA). She also sings with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus (Boston Symphony) and the Illuminati Vocal Arts Ensemble (Amherst, MA). She is an alumna of the Aspen Music Festival and School, where she performed for two summers with GRAMMY-nominated Seraphic Fire at their Professional Choral Institute.  Bowe holds an M.M. and a B.M. summa cum laude from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and is a D.M.A. Candidate in Choral Conducting at Louisiana State University.
