Biography

Sarah Mehnert

Sarah Mehnert was born in Prien am Chiemsee. She started with vocal studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main, Germany with Prof. Thomas Heyer, from where she graduated with a Master’s Degree. In addition to her studies she attended numerous masterclasses with e.g. Helmut Deutsch, Markus Kupferblum, Camilla Ueberschaer und Franz Hawlata. She is also the recipient of numerous scholarships, such as the Prof.Dr.Zerweck-/Cassella-Stiftung, the Da Ponte Stiftung, the Richard-Wagner-Verband Frankfurt am Main and the Giovanni Omodeo Stiftung. In 2016 she made her operatic debut in Benjamin Britten’s "Paul Bunyan", directed by the reknown Brigitte Fassbender, at the opera Frankfurt, where she also featured as a guest in Harry Kupfer’s production of Prokofjew’s "The Gambler" in the same season. Throughout her young career she has worked with reknown conductors, such as Sebastian Weigle, Nikolai Petersen, Enrico Delamboye, and Mario Venzago. In the season 2019/2020 she joined the ensemble of Konzert Theater Bern where she featured as e.g. Emilia in "Otello", Berta in "Il barbiere di Siviglia", Ludmilla in "Die verkaufte Braut", Deaconesss in the swiss premiere of "Król Roger", Suzuki in "Madame Butterfly" and Orlofsky in "Die Fledermaus". Additional productions which unfortunately had to be cancelnd due to the COVID-19-pandemic include Geneviève in "Pelléas et Mélisande", A Woman in "Intolleranza 1960", 3. Blumenmädchen in "Parsifa"l and the title role Lucretia in "The Rape of Lucretia".
