Sarah Wells
(She/Her) American soprano Sarah Wells recently made her professional debute as Zerlina in Opera Wilmington's 2025 production of Don Giovanni. In 2024, she appeared as an emerging artist with Bel Canto in Tuscany and holds a M.M. degree in Voice Performance from Florida State Univeristy. Recent roles include La Contessa in Le nozze di figaro and Ann Sexton in Transformations, both with the FSU opera. Mrs. Wells will join Peach State Opera in their upcoming season as Gerturde in Humperdick's Hansel and Gretel.

Biography

Sarah Wells

Sarah Wells’ artistic journey is marked by an impressive array of roles, academic achievements, and performances. Born and raised in Jacksonville, North Carolina, she currently resides in Tallahassee, Florida, where she continues to pursue her passion for opera and voice performance. Wells holds a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance from Florida State University  and a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Ms. Wells made her professional debut in July 2025 with Opera Wilmington, where she sang the role of Zerlina in Mozart's Don Giovanni. In the summer of 2024, she appeared as an emerging artist with Bel Canto in Tuscany, further expanding her international performance experience. Ms. Wells will be making her company and role debut with Peach State Opera, singing the role of Gerturde in their production of Hansel and Gretel. Ms. Wells has performed the roles of La Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro and Anne Sexton in Transformations, both with the Florida State University Opera in 2022. Her other performances include Gretel in Opera Wilmington’s production of Hansel and Gretel in 2020 and has sung as Lieschen in Bach’s Coffee Cantata at the 2019 Lumina Festival of Arts. Wells is a noted competition winner, earning first place in the 2022 NATS Southeastern Region Competition and being the finalist in the University of North Carolina Wilmington Concerto Competition. She will be competing as a semi-finalist in the Opera Ebony singing competition in October 2026.
