Shania Cordoba

Shania Cordoba is an avid trumpet performer and educator. As a solo, chamber, jazz, and orchestral performer, Shania finds joy in collaboration and performance opportunities with other artists. Shania’s teaching fundamentals focus on music's intrinsic values, such as navigating hurdles, creative problem-solving, and creating meaningful music.

As a performer, Shania has toured and performed around the United States, Asia, and Mexico. She has been accepted into the National Symphony Orchestra of the USA (2018), National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute (2019), and Sewanee Music Festival (2020). She also placed 3rd in the Next Generation Trumpet Competition featuring new works by Viet Cuong, Kevin Day, James David, Molly Joyce, and Liza Sobel (2021). Shania was a member of Hub City Brass, an undergraduate brass quintet based out of Lubbock, TX, who were finalist in the Mixed Wind Division at the Coltman Chamber Music Competition and were accepted into the Rafael Mendez Brass Institute in 2020. Currently she is in a graduate brass quintet at Yale School of Music where they explore new music and collaborations, aside from the standard repertoire.

As an educator, Shania has taught private lessons through her in-person and online studio, given masterclasses and led high school trumpet ensembles. She has been a trumpet instructor with Through the Staff (2020-2021), Texas Tech Band and Orchestra Camp (2021-2022), and at local high schools in El Paso, TX.
