Biography

Sierra Kidd

Sierra Kidd is a soprano from Louisville, Kentucky. She completed her undergraduate studies in 2023 at the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor's degree in Choral Music Education. Sierra returned to the university immediately to begin working on her graduate studies with a Master's in Music, continuing with her voice teacher, Dr. Angelique Clay. She was the 1st place graduate division winner in the 2023- 19th annual Alltech voice scholarship competition. She has sung Papagena in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Zerlina in Mozart's Don Giovanni, and Susanna in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro with the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre. She made her European stage debut with Prague Summer Nights as Barbarina in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro in the illustrious Estates Theatre. She recently made her Italian debut, returning to the role of Susanna in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro with FIO Italia. Sierra has also sung the roles of Mrs. Hayes in Carlisle Floyd's Susannah, as well as Anna in Paul Moravec and Mark Campbell's A Nation of Others: both with the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre. Sierra also assists with classroom instruction under Professor Nan McSwain as the graduate assistant for the diction courses. She also teaches voice under the guidance of Dr. Angelique Clay as a teaching assistant. Sierra has studied with other notable voice instructors Dr. Catherine Clarke Nardolillo, and Dr. Tony Bouttè. She was invited to perform with the Kentucky Governor's School for the Arts Vocal Music students, singing Vilja-Lied, conducted by Dr. Alexander T. Simpson Jr. She participates as the soprano section leader at St. Luke Church in Lexington, Kentucky. There she also conducts the handbell choir and directs the children's worship ministry.
