From the Hudson Valley in New York, Simon Brea is a Hispanic-American tenor, currently pursuing a Performer’s Diploma under full merit scholarship at the Jacobs School of Music, under the guise of critically acclaimed tenor Russell Thomas. In May of 2025, Simon graduated from the Jacobs School with a Master’s in Voice, where his roles there include Camille de Rosillon (Die Lustige Witwe), The Harvester Solo (Eugene Onegin), Alfred (Die Fledermaus) and Oronte (Alcina). Scene work during this time includes the title role in The Rake’s Progress, Martin in The Tender Land, Alfredo in La Traviata, Tonio in La fille du régiment and Nadir in Les pêcheurs de perles. In his young career, Simon has already taken part in several Young Artist programs throughout the world. Simon made his professional debut at Opera North in New Hampshire in 2024, playing the roles of Mercury (Orphée aux enfers), Borsa (Rigoletto), and Jack (Into the Woods), while also covering Il Duca in Rigoletto. Simon also took part in the midwest premiere of Lisa DeSpain’s contemporary opera The Song of the Nightingale, playing the role of The Curator in a well-received performance with Cedar Rapids Opera. Most recently, Simon made his European debut in the summer of 2025 by taking part in the prestigious Georg Solti Accademia Young Artist Program in Castiglione della Pescaia, Italy; there, he took part in several concerts, performing in works such as the Act II Quartet of Puccini’s La Rondine, while also studying under esteemed coaches, conductors and singers such as Jonathan Papp, Jonathan Lakeland, Enrique Mazzola, Stefano Baldasseroni and Charles Castronovo. Simon earned his Bachelor’s at the Purchase Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Jacque Trussel, where he performed roles such as Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Le Prince Charmant (Cendrillon) and Father Confessor (Dialogues of the Carmelites). Simon also has a vast amount of choral experience outside of opera, serving as a soloist for Vivaldi’s Magnificat, Lotti’s Miserere mei in C minor, and the Mozart Coronation Mass. Simon has also worked with the conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, John Morris Russell, for a reading of the Bernstein West Side Story Suite. Outside of opera, Simon is also a comedic social media content creator, with 1.3 million subscribers on YouTube and over 100,000 followers on Instagram; he uses his influence to bring awareness to his operatic journey, as well as the art form as a whole.
