Sophia Silvers is a Sacramento-based coloratura soprano with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from California State University, Sacramento (CSUS). She most recently portrayed Nadia (Yum Yum) this August in DRACULA, the Light Opera Theatre of Sacramento’s (LOTS) reimagining of The Mikado. Her previous LOTS appearance was as Rudy in the West Coast premiere of Spicer Carr’s 4 Lost Santas.
Last summer, Sophia played Emmie in Britten’s Albert Herring with Chicago Summer Opera, and performed concert selections from Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and Lucio Silla with Classic Lyric Arts Berkshires. In 2023, Sophia performed as Gretel in Shuying Li's Where the Purple Mountains Burn, premiered Alon Nechustan's Legit Secrets, and presented Max Eidinoff's "A Memory of the Players at Midnight" with Operation Opera. In addition to performing, she also served as Administrative Executive for six months leading up to and during the festival.
Sophia made her professional debut as Ida in Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus with the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera and has since returned in both principal and chorus roles.
Notable past performances include the Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte, La Fée in Viardot’s Cendrillon, and Lauretta in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, all with CSUS Opera Theatre. She has also been featured in the Festival of New American Music’s GALA concert and regularly performs as a soloist and chorister with Camerata California.
Beyond the stage, Sophia is a passionate voice, piano, and ukulele instructor in the greater Sacramento area.
