(Ms.) Stephanie Kim is a Korean-Canadian light soprano. In 2025, she will appear as a soloist with the Milton Choristers and as the soprano soloist in Bach’s Mass in B Minor with the Toronto Choral Society. Past roles include Zerlina in Don Giovanni with Summer Opera Lyric TheatrePamina in Opera York's Die Zauberflöte, Adina with Vincerò Academy (L'eslir d'amore role study), and Oscar in Un ballo in maschera with the Toronto City Opera. In concert, Stephanie was the soprano soloist in the Christmas Oratorio with the Toronto Choral Society.

Biography

Stephanie Kim

Stephanie Kim is a light soprano, born in South Korea, who moved to the Greater Toronto Area at the age of six. She began studying piano as a child, and over time, her early musical explorations led her to classical singing. Her upcoming engagements include a soloist appearance the Milton Choristers and as the soprano soloist in Bach’s Mass in B Minor with the Toronto Choral Society. 

She made her Toronto Operetta Theater debut as Isabel in Pirates of Penzance (2023) and performed as Sylvaine and Frou-Frou in their production of The Merry Widow. In 2023, she appeared as Zerlina in Don Giovanni with Summer Opera Lyric Theatre and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte with Opera York. Past operatic performances also include Oscar in Un ballo in maschera with Toronto City OperaPapagena and First Spirit in Die Zauberflöte with the Luke Housner Workshop and Princess Gudrun in August Enna's Prinsessen på ærten with Opera by Request. She also completed a role study of Adina in L'elisir d’amore with Vincerò Academy.

In concert, Stephanie made her Carnegie Hall debut with Vincerò Academy singing excerpts from Idomeneo as Ilia and Lakmé as Lakmé (2023)She performed as the soprano soloist in Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with the Toronto Choral Society (2023). 

In 2022, Stephanie was awarded a scholarship to study at Vincerò Academy with distinguished faculty on the role of Adina.  She was declared a 360° of Opera and NYIOP 2021 Scholarship Recipient to attend the Premiere Opera Vocal Arts Institute. Stephanie was selected as a semi-finalist in Camerata Bardi’s 2021 International Vocal Competition as well as a semi-finalist in Premiere Opera Foundation’s 2021 International Vocal Competition.

Stephanie began her Bachelor’s degree at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester where she was a pupil of Rita Shane. She continued her studies at York University under the tutelage of Norma Burrowes and also received her Associate Diploma in Voice Performance from The Royal Conservatory. Stephanie is an alumna of the 2021 Premiere Opera Vocal Arts Institute, 2018 Opera NUOVA, 2018 Luke Housner Workshop, and 2013 Si parla si canta training program.
